Nearly half of british pet owners will miss out on seeing friends and family this christmas by putting pet’s needs first

As a nation of pet lovers, the financial and emotional cost of being parted from our furry friends at Christmas can prove too much with kennel costs, airfares and separation anxiety, meaning Brits up and down the country miss out on seeing their loved ones.

IT’LL BE LONELY THIS CHRISTMAS

In Britain nearly half of pet owners have missed out on the chance to spend Christmas with their friends and family by putting their pet’s needs first. Nearly two-thirds (59%) of animal owners who do venture out will experience separation anxiety when leaving their pets behind.

THE STRESS OF FLYING

The research, conducted by Virgin Trains, reveals over half (56%) of British pet owners admit they would worry about their pet getting stressed if placed in an aircraft hold when travelling. While the cost of flying with a pet between London and Scotland can add £1,500 to an airfare, it’s no wonder 28% worry about the financial impact as this mode of transport will seem impossible for many.

With boarding kennel costs, pet sitters’ fees and vets’ vaccination bills adding to worries about pining pets, it’s a dog’s life for the millions of pet owners in the UK** at this time of year.
